Single Sign-on is an often overlooked tool which makes it easier for users to login to various systems as well as to administrate those users. By operating a single, central directory a user can access a number of different systems using the same credentials.
This means that they are not continually challenged for different usernames and/or passwords for differing systems and as a result can have their password updated on a more frequent basis. Furthermore, this is typically linked to a Multi Factor Authentication system which allows a user’s identity to be verified through a security token which is usually via a smart phone app or text message verification mechanism.
